- Red Devil has an unusual feature in that the red skin bleeds slightly into the flesh, producing an interesting staining effect in the flesh just below the skin. The flavour is fairly well balanced between sweet and sharp, and there is a sometimes a slight strawberry element to it. Red Devil produces a very attractive pink juice, and this alone is a good reason for growing it.
- Being partially self-fertile, you can get away with not having a pollination partner, though your crop size will suffer a bit. Fiesta is a mid-late season flowerer and can cross pollinate with any tree in the mid or late season categories.
- The leaves will start to appear autumnal and slightly shabby from mid-June onwards. This is not a disease but is mainly due to this year’s contrasting weather conditions and will not affect the performance of the tree.
