Pop Rock Editorial Review
**** "Before The Flood" stands as a significant moment in Bob Dylan's storied career, particularly notable for showcasing his return to live performance after a hiatus. This live album is not just a collection of songs but serves as a historical document capturing a pivotal time in Dylan's artistic journey post-"Blood on the Tracks." Fans of Dylan will appreciate the raw energy he brings to the stage, delivering a selection of classics with a transformed vocal approach—one that eschews subtlety for a more passionate, if somewhat coarse, interaction with the audience. The band accompanying Dylan shines throughout, with their performances described as superb and powerful, effectively driving the songs forward. Critics and fans alike rave about the crispness and quality of the music, although some express a lingering preference for the original vinyl over the CD format for its classic warmth. Songs like "Highway 61" and "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" receive fresh interpretations that, while rearranged and somewhat unrecognizable, are performed with enthusiasm and skill. For those who revere Dylan and The Band, this album is more than just an auditory experience; it's an emotive journey. It delivers an essential glimpse of both artists at their peak, making it a worthy addition to any music collection for followers of Dylan's work. Ultimately, "Before The Flood" is celebrated for its historical significance, outstanding musician synergy, and the exhilarating atmosphere of live performance, marking it as a must-have for enthusiasts and collectors. **
