The TruArc 3 Base Plate Compass is a reliable compass that is easy to use. It's perfect for those who need the basic orienteering functions in a secondary or backup compass. The compass is USA made, the lines on the compass represent 2 degrees and the loop hole allows the enclosed lanyard to lay flat on a smooth surface. The compass is not ideal for using with a map and lacks orientation lines on the base and dial. However, it is a good value for a lifesaving piece of gear. The dial can be tough to turn, which can be extremely frustrating, and there is a tendency for the compass to slide around on the map due to a lack of rubber pads on the bottom. Some customers also experienced issues with bubbles developing in the liquid after a short period of time.
