Ten Years After Format: Audio CD Blues Rock Editorial Review
**** "Positive Vibrations" is a 1974 album by Ten Years After that has received mixed reviews, with many praising it as a strong return to the band's roots. While some may critique it as less impactful than their earlier works, it still stands out as a notable entry in their discography. The album showcases a finely tuned collaboration of all band members, with each instrument given equal importance in the mix—an aspect that resonates well with long-time fans of the group. The remastering, albeit disputed, has preserved the album's rich sound, making it feel fresh while allowing listeners to appreciate the intricate patterns created by Alvin Lee on the guitar. Rather than dominating the soundscape, Lee integrates his work into the full tapestry of the band's performance, which includes generally distinct contributions from the bass, keyboards, and drums. This collective effort produces a blend of jazz and blues rock that feels reminiscent of their classic albums, "Watt" and "A Space in Time." While some songs on the album may not reach the high standards set by their previous hits, they are still enjoyable and reflect the band's journey and evolution. Overall, "Positive Vibrations" captures a moment in time where the band's dynamics were shifting, yet they still managed to deliver high-quality rock music. This album is often viewed as an underappreciated gem that deserves a place in any serious rock enthusiast's collection. **
