One user claimed that the machine stopped working after only two months and required repair, and several others complained about error messages and malfunction. Others mention that the coffee machine is possibly over-engineered or that it Consistently notes full canisters or a lack of water, even when that isn't the case. Despite these issues, some users still love the machine for its hot and frothy milk froth and that it takes up little counter space. Another user compared it to a Terra Kaffe machine to test them side-by-side, and concluded that although the Smeg was faster and quieter, the LED screen on the Terra Kaffe made it much more user-friendly, especially when customizing. The TK also handles all the milk steaming/frothing itself, requires no skill, and has a larger water reservoir and bean hopper, and the water reservoir includes a filter. Smeg sells nothing, and doesn't even tell you what kind of descaling products you should use, or how to clean the grinder.
