Bellini Vincenzo Format: Audio CD Blu-ray Editorial Review

I Capuleti e i Montecchi is a seldom performed operatic gem from the collaboration of F Romani and V. Bellini, premiering in 1830 at Teatro La Fenice. This opera blends captivating melodies with strong vocal performances, particularly from Joyce DiDonato and Nicole Cabell, whose duet work received high praise for their emotional depth and striking harmony. Critics note the innovative, albeit abstract, staging that deviates from traditional interpretations, yet ultimately, it is the exquisite singing that captivates audiences. The orchestra also plays a crucial role, adding richness to the performance, making this a highly recommended recording despite some reservations about the production design.
