Nikwax Cotton Proof Waterproofing is a treatment made for repelling water from cotton materials. The product can be applied with a brush or a sponge. The product is safe for poly-cotton blends and can be used on denim. A jacket that has been properly treated with Nikwax Cotton Proof will have much more repellency than an untreated cotton jacket. It is recommended to wash the garment with Nikwax Tech Wash first before using Cotton Proof. The product wears off the fabric after three washes, preferably with Tech Wash, and needs re-treatment with Cotton Proof to sustain significant repellency. The product review, however, is mixed. Some have positive experiences, with water beading right off, while others find that the product does not work at all. The product is not effective when there is water pooling for 24 hours. There are also complaints that the product does not work after washing and needs reapplication. Some have received the spray version instead of the wash-in, and it is less effective, according to reviewers.
